I CHANGE THE HEATING SYSTEM AND WATER HEATER

Get a grant to replace energy-intensive electric water heaters with new modern technology solar water heaters and/or with a heat pump system.

The “I Change the Heating System and Water Heater” Program opens tomorrow, January 13, 2025 (13-01-20250), which subsidizes households for the replacement of energy-intensive electric water heaters with new modern technology solar water heaters and/or with a heat pump system.

The program includes:

  • The subsidy for the purchase of a new modern technology solar water heater (Eligible Equipment Category A).
  • The subsidy for the purchase of a new heating heat pump system (including the external unit, fan coil, piping) (Eligible Equipment Category B).
  • Subsidy for the cost of carrying out necessary additional installation work for eligible equipment (e.g. transportation costs, installation costs, consumables, accessories, smart system (timer) etc.) (Eligible Expenditure of Categories A and B).

The main objectives of the Program are to increase renewable energy sources (RES) and save financial resources from reducing energy consumption. Specifically, the use of RES for the production of hot water is expected to significantly reduce the average energy cost of the Greek family and at the same time the lower demand for electricity implies lower production from fossil fuels or non-renewable sources.

Another main objective of the Program is to reduce the use of heating systems based on fossil fuels and biomass that significantly burden air pollution with suspended particles. A larger part of the Program's budget will be allocated to beneficiaries in the Regions of Central Macedonia and Epirus where, based on air pollution measurement data from the last five (5) years, the maximum permissible limits of particulate pollution are frequently exceeded several times per year compared to the rest of the Regions of Greece.

Obtain a grant for the replacement of energy-intensive electric water heaters with new modern technology solar water heaters and/or a heat pump system.

The start of submission of funding applications by potential beneficiaries will be activated on 13-01-2025.

The submission of applications will take place from 13-01-2025 to 31-03-2025 following a press release from the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
